Kurt Heynicke (1891 – 1985)
The German writer, and son of a piano builder, Kurt Heynicke was born in Liegnitz (Legnice in nowadays Poland). Before the war he work as a commercial clerk at an insurance company. During the Great War Heynicke served on the East and West front as a volunteer with the medical service. During this time his first poems appeared in Der Sturm (The Storm), the German art and literary magazine.
I’ve used Heynicke’s poem Angriff for the album Krieg. Angriff was published in the November 1917 issue of Der Strum.
